SCA Governance
Governance, Steering and Auditing
The main governing body of SCA is the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which elects the members of the Election Committee and the Board and the Auditors for the association. The Board is responsible for governance between the AGMs. The AGM decides, among other things, about statutes, policies and strategies and issues guidelines for the Work Plan & Budget.
The Secretary General has the overall responsibility for implementation of decisions by the Board, and reports to the Board. The Secretary General works through two management offices, one in Stockholm (SMO) and one in Kabul (KMO). In these offices documents are produced for submission to the Board, applications for grants and reports are written and monitoring, evaluation and supervision of operational activities in Afghanistan and Sweden are carried out. The field operations in Afghanistan are directed by the Country Director who reports to the Secretary General.
The Board consists of 13 members, many of them representatives from the local branches of the association and people with experience from international development. The Executive Committee has five members and prepares the board meetings.
President of the Board in 2006 is: Ms Lena Hjelm-Wallén, former vice prime minister of Sweden.
