Employment Support

The main objective of Employment Support component is to help and encourage PwDs to become economically self-reliant through vocational training and the granting of business loans, as well as identification of jobs in the local labour market. The RAD employment support officers identify and assist PwDs to choose a vocational activity that is appropriate for the individual and which he/she would like to pursue. Each employment support officer organises on an average four courses per year and skills training is also given at the CRDCs or in homes according to the needs of the disabled individual. An obvious strength of the component is that it is implemented by local persons who know local labour market regarding job placement, possibilities for apprenticeships and options for small businesses.

During 2006, this component helped 560 PwDs with skills training and 498 PwDs received loans.
