The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan celebrated the 8th of March “International Women’s Day” at all its 10 offices in Afghanistan today. SCA has 5500 employees in Afghanistan, 1283 are women. They were given an appreciation letters for the hard work they carry out, especially in the field work.

Breshna, 18, from Jalalabad was two years old when her family realized that she had polio. Due to her disability she has never been to a school, but Breshna learned tailoring at a vocational training of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan. Now she has her own tailoring business at her home and is voluntarily teaching other disabled in the business.

At an SPF training in Parwan in 2009 local NGOs received training in
proposal writing and budget planning.
Civil Society (CS) is commonly known as the arena in between families, private companies, government, institutions and typically consist of a group of people that come together in order to achieve their common goals and visions for the goods of a bigger group.
SCA’s Small Project Fund (SPF) aims to strengthen local capacity and to respond to initiatives from civil society organisations, increase its interaction with civil society and try out new partnership activities with civil society organisations.
The project is funded through Swedish Forum Syd.
Deadline for applications is January 24, 2010.
