International Conference on Civil Society Development in Afghanistan

Goal of the Conference
“To identify current challenges, analyse opportunities and explore ways to overcome internal and external problems facing Afghan Civil Society”
Kabul: In the recent five years the civil society as a concept filling the gap between government and the people has been firmly established in our country. The civil society and the organizations active in this field contribute to the education of people regarding their civil rights, give a voice to disadvantaged groups and support people to organize themselves in the public space.
But more challenges are ahead. To identify current challenges, analyze opportunities and explore ways to overcome internal and external problems facing Afghan Civil Society, the Afghan Civil Society Forum (ACSF) and its partners are organization a two-day Conference.
His Excellency, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Hamid Karzai, cabinet members and other members of the Afghan Government as well as prominent personalities of the Civil Society from Kabul, the provinces and abroad are expected to contribute to this conference.
The two day conference will discuss the following topics:
• To analyze the current Afghan situation from CS perspective since the previous report (ACSA), internal and external opportunities and challenges
• To share expertise and experiences on how to strengthen Civil Society in Afghanistan
• To identify ways building cooperation through collective process-oriented efforts
• To link and network with national and international civil society actors
• To find trends and relevance of the current programs/projects, their impacts and effectiveness
• To inform donors and public on the civil society importance, its role and participation in the development processes
