Sida Director General
visited SCA in the north

Kabul, November 18, 2008


In the fairly safe northern Balkh province Anders Nordström, the Director General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), visited SCAs orthopaedic workshop in Mazar-e Sharif. SCA have similar workshops in Taloqan, Ghazni and Jalalabad. They all provide orthopaedic appliances and mobility aids to improve disabled individuals physical mobility and self reliance.

All over Afghanistan Sida supports the SCA education programme along with the SCA midwifery school and healthcare programme.

European network
for Afghanistan

A few years ago SCA together with selected European organisation focusing on Afghanistan created the network ENNA – European Network of NGOs for Afghanistan. The aim with network is to influence and advocate the European policy on Afghanistan. ENNA has a special interest in problems and opportunities on rebuilding the Afghan civil society and how the war torn country can evolve.

Afghanistan's first Olympic medal

SCA congratulates Afghanistan for its first Olympic Medal ever.
On Wednesday the 20th of August Mr. Rohullah Nikpai won the bronze medal in men's 58-kg taekwondo, beating flyweight world champion Juan Antonio Ramos.
Two competitors in athletics and two in taekwondo represented Afghanistan in the Beijing Olympics.
