Exchange trip for Afghan Teachers & School Consultants

Afifa Atefi, School Consultant, June 27, 2007

The visit was done in connection with the Twin School Project where students in Afghanistan, Sweden and England exchange information and material such as drawings and letters to learn about life and culture in the land of their Twin School. Some of the involved teachers will get the opportunity to visit each others countries.

During their visit in Sweden the Afghan group met with the Swedish Coordinator for the project Ms Marléne Hugosson and a group of Swedish teachers that visited Afghanistan last year.

School Consultant Mrs Afifa Atefi tells us about her experience from the trip:

The goals of the trip were to observe the Swedish Twin Schools and practically learn about teaching in Sweden. Especially we observed the relation, interaction, between the teacher and the student and teaching methods.

Among others we visited the school Höglandsskolan in Stockholm. What was very interesting to see was that they had very large buildings and different classrooms for different subjects. It was also interesting to learn that in Sweden all schools are mixed.

I also flew up to Skellefteå in the north of Sweden to visit Tuböleskolan were I gave a lecture about the Afghan Education System.

I will use my experience and the observations I made in Sweden in my work as a School Consultant in Afghanistan.
