Inauguration ceremony of a new surgical theatre at Wardak hospital on 30th of June

Many people gathered in Wardak to be a part of this special day: the country director of SCA Jesper Jensen, project leader doctor Philippe Bonhoure, Minister of Health doctor Fatimie, the governor of Wardak, the Provincial Health Director doctor Farooq Wardak, a member of the Italian Embassy and the BPHS Project Manager were present.

This day this party celebrated the inaugurated of a new completed surgical theatre, with two operating rooms, stores and annexes. Also the first stones of the foundation of a new 50 beds ward with nurse’s stations were laid by the guests.

After speeches, cutting the ribbons in the operating theatre and laying stones in the foundations, all the guests, plus the staff of the project and of the hospital were invited to a lunch arranged by the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan in the physical doctor’s office.

After the lunch the physical doctor’s office the Project Management had a joint meeting. The students were invited in the project as a part of their Pre Service Public Health Training and also had the opportunity to have a one hour meeting with the Minister of Health - doctor Fatimie.
